The Innisfail Golf Club Experience

Located on the west side of Innisfail, The Innisfail Golf Club offers 27 scenic and challenging holes. Three distinct 9-hole courses offer the variety and excitement needed to make Innisfail a must play experience.

Always enjoy a little road trip with my buddies and when it was suggested we play a round at Innisfail Golf Club it took me about ten seconds to agree and book a tee time. As it turned out luck was on our side as we headed out on a beautiful sunny afternoon and not a breath of wind. Perfect for a round of golf although it does eliminate a few excuses. The Innisfail golf course is always in great shape and fun to play.

Established in 1924, the Bill Robinson designed Innisfail Golf Course has developed into one of Alberta’s finest golfing experiences, having been selected as the site of the 2002 & 2016 Alberta Mens’ Amateur Championship and 2009 Alberta Senior Ladies Championship. Innisfail Golf Club offers 27 scenic and challenging holes. Three distinct 9-hole courses offer the variety and excitement needed to make Innisfail a must play experience. Wound through mature poplar and spruce trees combined with challenging water hazards and superbly maintained undulating greens, Innisfail is a true test of golfing skill. Take it from us accuracy is at a premium off the tee and I suggest hitting something other than driver on a number of the shorter tree-lined holes.

Our group was very pleased to learn we had drawn the Aspen/Hazelwood rotation as we had heard a lot of good comments about the work done on hole # 6 on the Hazelwood nine (see image below). Wow, very impressive changes to the hole. The fairway raised/leveled and seemed wider (or I got more accurate!) and the entire left side of the fairway has been cleared of the brushes and is rock lined. A small creek has been trenched in at the front of the green and it too is rock lined and to get to the green you cross the creek over a very cool bridge. Accuracy definitely a premium on both your tee shot and approach to the green.

After your round head up to the new clubhouse that boasts an awesome deck overlooking the course to relax and enjoy a beverage and a bite to eat. It is worth a little drive south to play any of the nine holes at Innisfail, check them out online at www.innisfailgolf.ca or call 403-227-3444 ext 3 to book your tee time.
