Tranquil golf located just north of Lacombe

Updated: Feb 17, 2021

Located just north of Lacombe you will find the always fun and well maintained Nursery Golf & Country Club. Carved and sculpted from a former 75 year old tree nursery, The Nursery has a number of fun and interesting holes including the ‘longest hole in Canada.’

While The Nursery boasts tree-lined fairways the landing areas are generous and the course is playable for all skill levels. The course is more of a ‘thinkers’ course, and driver is often not required off the tee.

In 2018 they added a 31 site fully serviced RV park onsite making the Nursery a perfect home base for a weekend get-away or central Alberta golf vacation. The large 5 acre RV site boasts amenities such as; volleyball court, horseshoe pits, playground, washroom and shower facilities

and more.

Favourite Holes...

Par-3: The Nursery is home to a diverse and good group of five par-3’s but our favourite would have to be the 165 yard 3rd shown above. Depending on the tee-box the third plays downhill to a sloping green with a large lake behind and to the left of the green. The green is one of the more exposed greens to wind on the course so club selection off the tee is key on this mid length par-3.

Par-4: Carved from a former tree nursery there are a number of good looking and challenging par-4s at the Nursery. Our favourite however is one of the more open holes on the course, the drive-able fifth (shown above). At 300 yards from the back tees is a great birdie or eagle opportunity, but don’t go right as water lines the hole from the tee all the way to and around the green.

Par-5: The ‘longest hole in Canada,’ has to be our favourite long hole at The Nursery (shown below). Playing from the tips as a par-6 your tee shot needs to go more right than you would think. Something crazy to think about is that a tee shot of 282 yards, will still leave you 500 yards from the green!!! The second shot can be tricky as a stream crosses the middle of the hole, once over the creek it is smooth sailing from there as long as you can manage to keep your ball on the fairway. This is a really fun hole and something you just don’t see very often, hopefully you can walk away from this hole with a birdie 5 :)
